The SoaVI Vocal Ensemble was founded in 2022 by students of Early Music and Classical Singing at the Leipzig University of Music and Theatre ‘Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy’. What unites the six young singers is a shared passion for the vocal music of past centuries, as well as a keen interest in contemporary compositions and new forms of vocal expression.

At the heart of the ensemble’s artistic work is the exploration of a wide-ranging repertoire spanning from the Renaissance and Baroque periods to the present day. With great stylistic sensitivity, a beautifully blended ensemble sound, and genuine musical curiosity, SoaVI creates diverse programmes that bring historical and contemporary vocal music into dialogue. In a remarkably short time, the ensemble has established itself as a promising presence in Germany’s young vocal music scene and has already appeared at numerous concerts and festivals throughout the country.

SoaVI received particular recognition at the International A Cappella Competition Leipzig in 2025, where the ensemble was awarded Second Prize and additionally received the amarcord Special Prize for the best unamplified performance. These distinctions reflect the ensemble’s outstanding musical quality, expressive depth, and distinctive vocal artistry.

Audiences can look forward to a concert of transparency, precision, and vocal diversity, offering an engaging insight into the remarkable expressive possibilities of the human voice.
